This day don't stop

It's nice outside. I'm drinking coffee. My mom is going to phone soon. I'm going out for dinner tonight. I can have a nap if I want to. There's very very good veggie lasagna in the fridge. Spike is on my lap (was- now is on the couch- oh well). I'm surrounded by yarn. My DS is just over yonder on the side table. It's lunchtime and I'm still in my pajamas. I don't have to work. This day cannot stop.

Cause if it does I might have to address the 27 journals to read, 55 french tests to mark, (I have a six-week teaching job which is WOO and AUGH alllll at the same time), no clean laundry, no clean dishes, my bedroom is the official Land Unknown, I have to do my budget for February...

So back to why this day cannot stop... there's hot chocolate mix in the kitchen, I'm reading two new books, my sims2 CD is already in the computer, there's so many good blogs to catch up on, I'm crocheting a squirrel, I have tofutti ice cream sandwiches in the fridge... ah.

In other news, how do you reward yourself for work well done without buying stuff? I wanted to do something neato for me in regards to the massive amount of work (it's taken awhile for my cafe boss to realize that when I say I need my hours cut back it means I NEED MY HOURS CUT BACK!!!) I've been doing and really all my things were... buy new DS game, buy new yarn, buy a knitting book- and I wondered, how does one reward oneself with something novel (so it's can't be like... knitting time or something that I do anyways) without consuming? Just a question.

And I am reading everyone's blogs before bed and I'm sorry I'm not commenting. I send many internety hugs.

Residual Stress and Crappy Weather

Makes for an unhappy Leone. I seriously don't know how adults do it because I've got myself and Spike and I can barely handle it. 27 has brought with it a lot of bagguage- this is no longer mid-20s. This is mid-late 20s! I should know stuff! I shouldn't be a freak about money! I should be able to walk into my walk-in closet! Ugh.

In other news, I love my nintendo DS. We weren't allowed nintendo systems growing up which I totally approve of because it has made this whole experience 45x more exciting. I now have Mariokart (and Jen??!?! In rainbow road you now go UPSIDE down!), Zelda and the Phantom Hourglad (too much fun! I love how you use the stylus for all the play), Brain Age (good for Sudoku), and Guitar Hero (I've gotten past the easy and medium levels but hard is kicking my butt).

And I've decided January is a month of threes. I don't know why. It sounds good right? So in January I have three goals and each is broken down into three sub-goals with three sub-terrain goals.

1. Apartment
  • Closet- find walk in closet, organize clothing, give clothing away
  • Papers- recycle stuff, organize school papers, organize house papers
  • Kitchen- clean out fridge, clean out freezer, organize cupboards
2. Knitting
  • Feather and Fan Cashmere Scarf- fix booboo, write down pattern and possibly tattoo it into the back of my hand so I don't forget/lose it for the fifth time, finish
  • Dad's other sock (from his birthday. In November)- Do the leg, turn the heel, graft and finish.
  • Angora Cowl- knit another four inches, drop stitches, block gingerly.
3. Adult Crap
  • Budget- budget, get a cooler credit card, budget
  • Job- get TOC bag put back together, find more teachy pants, get a haircut
  • Correspondence (not a crap thing but something I've really let go that I enjoy doing)- send out thank you cards for Xmas, return all my facebook messages (mostly asking me about John- thanks Mom), organize my stationary and send more handwritten letters.

I'm calling it.

That's right folks. As of 10:30am, January 5th, 2009- today is a Mental Health Day (aka- Leone-is-going-to-have-a-meltdown-of-epic-proportions-if-she-doesn't-calm-the-fuck-down).

On my list of things to do are:

  • vacuum and sweep
  • put away dishes and load dishwasher
  • unpack
  • play BrainAge and Guitar Hero on my DS
  • brush Spike (should really do that before I vacuum)
  • empty all garbage and take out recycling (couldn't do recycling- I don't think it's been picked up for ages)
  • organize stash
  • get groceries and do banking
  • email my friends who probably think I am dead (hi ladies!)
  • make an awesome dinner for my dear friend coming over tonight (okay- long story slightly shorter... we were the total of best friends growing up but grew apart in late high school and stopped after high school but she is so important to me I would still have fun dreams with her and be sad I couldn't phone her up and tell her about the rowboats and the swimming cows and then I saw her at UBC and contacted her on facebook and she's a total crafty uber-cool librarian so I mean, how could we not be bffs again? She rocks).
  • make tiger butter
  • maybe do a load of laundry
  • be prepared to sub tomorrow- that means all the random stuff like making a lunch, setting my alarm for seven, prepping clothes, but mentally prepared as well. I like my job and I don't like being unhappy about it like I am right now.
  • go get a soy london fog from the cafe so it's FREE!
Now you may be thinking- 'hey, isn't a list of things to do kinda silly on a mental health day' but I need to do these things right now in order to be sane. And the whole thing is waiting around to be called to work is weird and because of my negative headspace I'm not doing anything productive and my place is falling apart and I just need to do something good you know? Yeah, I let you know how it goes. Now I'm going to go crank some Blondie and I'll talk again real soon okay?

And just for you fangirls here's a picture of John and I.

Happy New Year Meme!

Holy crap it's 2009! 2008 rocked the cazbah so I'm thinking 2009 will too. If you think about it logically it cannot fail. Anyhoo, so far the year has rocked, I spent it with my sister Julia, Jason (BIL), and John (who I am now calling my boyfriend- I've made that step). Now I am eating turkey bacon and about to go spend a little of my starbucks card because the coffee shop is closed today. Yeah and I slept in till 11:50~ was up very late last night. It's all good. And yes, I realized I was one post away from my goal of blogging more times that 2007 but I tied it so oh well. Bigger fish to fry baby, bigger fish to fry.

So I'm doing this meme seen here *here* and I'm tagging YOU!!! That's right. YOU!!!!

1) Harken back to your archives.
2) Collect the first sentence you wrote every month for the whole year.
3) Entertain us.

*warning- I am starting the meme now*

The landlord's wife just came in to use my bathroom because she's vacuuming the hallways. So this is from Oak's annual silent poetry reading and last year I did Adrienne Rich and this year um... don't know yet- going to go look through my poetry books. kthnxbi. I wore a dress today. So I know I haven't been blogging much, been too busy checking Jenn's blog eighteen times a day for pictures of her beebinbelly. Um.... yeah. So I've been kinda busy. That's my new hair. Today... I did nothing! I now have three jobs. Well, I've only blogged 32 times in the past ten months so let's see how I do blogging 30 days in a row o_O. So I haven't had a day off since Grad and yesterday I worked from 9-3 at a school, then 4-930 at the cafe, and then today I worked 9-3 again.

And now I must return to my turkey bacon. Ah... turkey bacon.
